“Malika has a depth of knowledge and horsemanship that is rare.  She cares so deeply about the horses and riders she works with.  Malika is aware it is never one thing that needs to improve, but that there is an interconnection between the horse, their care, her students skills and mentality that all need to be addressed in order to create harmony.  Malika is passionate about the beauty of that harmony and the happiness it brings to the horse and rider.”

“Malika Coston changed my nine year old grand daughter’s life.  Malika is not only an expert horse woman, Malika knows how to match horses with a young rider’s skill level.  When I asked my granddaughter why she liked Malika so much, she immediately replied,” she knows what she is doing, she doesn’t push, she makes riding fun.”

“Some trainers know how to get the best out of horses. Some know how to get the best from riders.  Malika is an expert at teaching both horse and rider.   She’s been part of our riding family for 26 years.”

Malika has been my riding instructor for nearly 30 years, beginning when I was 9 years old. Not only is Malika an incredible horsewoman and instructor, but a life coach for myself and other young riders in her barn. Malika understands how to support and guide a rider's personal and professional journey, as well as the journey between horse and rider.

Malika is skilled at matching a rider's skills and ambitions to a horse, ensuring a partnership of growth and development. In my case it took the form of helping my find a rescue horse when I was age 12. Sir Riley and I went on to grow and mature together under Malika's watchful eye, ultimately leading us to regional champions in hunt seat equitation under saddle.

Malika instills in her students first and foremost a respect for their horse, Malika approaches her work with horse and rider with passion, joy and a sense of humor, reminding us all to never forget why we ride in the first place.
